Purpose of Student Evaluation of Teaching
The purpose of student evaluation of teaching is to provide staff with valid and reliable information with which to make informed decisions about improving student learning outcomes.
Student Evaluation of Teaching is only one of the necessary components for making such informed decisions. It is a mandatory tool at Flinders but it does not prevent the use of other evaluation methods, such as reflective practice and peer review.
Evaluation is a positive process and should be used for the enhancement of staff development and student learning.
