Accessing statistics via Microsoft Excel Pivot Tables

Pivot tables are a built-in interactive function of Microsoft Excel. They enable users to quickly construct cross-tabulations of choice from predefined data sets.

You can rotate columns or rows to see different summaries of the source data and apply filters. A number of Excel spreadsheets are available for downloading in compressed zip files. They provide for cross-tabulations of a number of socio-demographic and course variables to provide information on total enrolments, load, completions, students and staff. Information from recent years is available.

Student Statistics

Statistic Type	Description	Current 2013 figures	2008 to 2012 figures
Enrolments	Since any student/s may be enrolled in more than one course, tables with enrolment figures will count a student more than once if they are enrolled in more than one course.	View current 2013	View trends
Student Load	Two variables indicating load are available. This includes the Equivalent Full-time Student Load (EFTSL) measure and the Weighted Equivalent Full-time Student Load (WEFTSL). Full-time load at Flinders is enrolment in 36 units.	View current 2013	View trends
Student Load: Extensive Data Set	Same figures as the above Student Load tables. This Extensive Data Set version includes additional fields for more specific queries.	View current 2013	View trends
Past Course Completions	Information is provided for each student who completed the academic requirements of an award course in the year prior to the Collection/Census Year.		View trends
Students	Students are persons admitted to a course at the University and this is current at the corresponding census, ie the person has not withdrawn from or deferred their studies. Students are counted only once even if they have been enrolled in more than one course.	View current 2013	View trends
